Hello, and welcome to NorthernNuance.com. My name is Jonathan and I’d like to welcome you to my website. If you’d like to know more about me, and my background, you have found the right page.
I have been a creative person since I was just a little kid. In elementary school I wrote a short story about playing T-Ball that was chosen to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
While in middle school, I would routinely write my own newspaper-like recaps of local sporting events that I had attended in my own notebook. I was the sports editor for our 8th grade yearbook, designing the pages and taking photos at school events. In high school, my claim to fame was announcing our home basketball games. Our women’s team won the Idaho State Championship during my Sophomore and Junior year and some of my best friends on our men’s team led our school to the state playoffs in both our Sophomore and Senior seasons. The stands were packed, and I loved being on the microphone to do what I could, to help our team, crowd and school.
In high school and college, I worked for a local minor league baseball team, including spending one season as the on-field emcee. My duties included standing on the field in-between innings and hosting the promotional mini-games that fans are invited to participate in during breaks in the action. During that particular season the team I worked for, set the all-time attendance record for Short-Season A - Minor League Baseball. We would routinely sell-out games with more than 7,000 fans in the stands. Being in-front of that many people with a microphone in my hand was a thrill.
Upon graduating from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!) I parlayed my degree and work experience into a full-time position with the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA - who promptly left for Oklahoma City at the end of my first season working for the team. After the Sonics left Seattle, I did as well - returning home to North Idaho where I earned my teaching certificate.
Three years later in 2013, my passion for photography blossomed when I began preparing to move to the Orlando, Florida area. I am a huge fan of the Disney World Theme Parks (Epcot is my favorite) and one of the ways I enjoy experiencing the parks the most, is to bring my camera along and look for photo opportunities. While “Theme Park Photography” is a very niche segment of the photo community, there are some tremendously talented people, creating fantastic images in the various theme parks around the world. Since moving to the Orlando area, my photography has grown, changed and evolved just like all things do. I still love heading off to Epcot for a casual stroll around World Showcase on a warm evening, with a cool drink in my hand.
I truly believe that I am in the right chapter of my life for this particular project to be a long-term success. The plans I have for Northern Nuance are ambitious, and I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
