Photography from Kissimmee, Florida at Lakefront Park and Highway 192
Photography from Kissimmee, Florida. Lakefront Park and Highway 192.
Far too often, we treat the places we live as mundane, boring and unspectacular. I’ve found that being able to look upon your local area with fresh eyes can be a great way to life my own spirits. One great way to change how you see your town, is by taking your camera off of the shelf, and bringing it with you to go exploring what you may think of as familiar and bland. Sometimes, all it takes is a single afternoon to remind yourself about what makes your area special, and why it should be seen with positivity rather than dismissal.
On February 9th, 2024 I went on an adventure around Kissimmee, Florida. I visited Lakefront Park in Downtown Kissimmee as well as The Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway - Highway 192 - which runs through the heart of Kissimmee. I hope you enjoy the pictures and can find some inspiration from them. Go look for some pictures in your town, you might be surprised as to what you find.

Rollins College - Photo Walk on 2/03/24.
Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, can be found just beyond downtown Orlando. Rollins boasts one of the most beautiful college campuses in the United States. Located literally on the shores of Lake Virginia, the buildings on campus all have gorgeous architectural stylings and views that only the most hardened amongst us would be uninspired by.
Thanks for visiting!
Red-Shouldered Hawk in Celebration, Florida with a Nikon D800E
Embark on a captivating photography journey in Celebration, Florida, as you focus your lens on the majestic Red-Shouldered Hawk. Capture stunning shots of this magnificent bird against the backdrop of charming streets and lush landscapes, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of this picturesque town.
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, prior to the San Francisco 49ers successfully taking down the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game, I took a walk with my Nikon D800E and the Nikkor 28-300 3.5-5.6 VR lens around my Celebration, Florida neighborhood. .
The D800E is absolutely not considered a sports & wildlife camera, because it doesn’t have a deep buffer nor does it shoot a billion frames-per-second like the new flagship, mirrorless bodies are capable of doing. I did run up against the D800E’s buffer on some of the bursts I shot, but the accuracy of the D800E’s autofocus was tremendous. The camera really only missed focus, when I screwed up, not the equipment itself. Additionally the 28-300 3.5-5.6 Nikkor zoom lens did a really nice job capturing the hawk in a “wildlife” type of situation, something that the lens isn’t exactly built to do. This walk-about setup performed well as a “jack-of-all-trades” kit and while a perched hawk isn’t exactly as difficult as capturing a bird in flight from a long distance away, I was happy with the performance of the camera, the lens and with my new friend, Mr. Hawk.
I hope you enjoy the images….and Go Niners!
